Zoroufy Stair Rods

Zoroufy of Middleton, Wisconsin is the largest manufacturer of stair rods, and if you have stair rods already, they just might be Zoroufy. If not and you are just considering stair rods, then you’ll may consider them.

They make an extremely wide collection of stair rods, as well as also making Stair-Holds, Wall Hangers, & Floor Vents. Their antique brass stair rods, Zofoury Dynasty Stair Rod, and others are very popular.

Stair-holds are similar to stair rods; decorative metal finishing pieces for your stairs. However unlike stair rods, stair holders are only 4 inches long. They, just like rods, are installed on the inside edge of each tread and are not designed for holding the stair carpet runner in place carpet. Stair holds are made in two styles, decorative and regular, and are available in 7 finishes including antique pewter, satin nickel, chrome, antique brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and wrought iron.

Their wall hangers are similar to stair rods, but designed for hanging items like rugs, quilts, and tapestries to the wall.

Zoroufy makes seven types of stair rods and multiple finishes and finials are available, probably enlarging your choices to hundreds. The finials are the end pieces the rods connect to and that are screwed into your stair treads (the horizontal part of each staircase). Although long ago stair rods may have held some carpets in place, today they are purely decorative.

The InspirationTM Stair Rod collection is one example. It’s one of the less expensive, the finial choices are pineapple, round, urn, pyramid (I like pineapple) and finishes of various types of brass and satin nickel. 28.5, 36, and 48 inch rod lengths are available. Although this is a budget choice, they are still made to Zoroufy’s high standards. I like these for their simplicity.

On the other end, we have the Grand Dynasty® Stair Rod Collection ideal for Grand Staircases and other uses. Available in antique brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and antique pewter finishes, there are multiple finial choices, and three choices of rod, each ¾ of an inch in diameter. They are roped, fluted, and smooth, and the rods come in lengths ranging from 36 inches to a whopping 144 inches long!

Their Heritage® Stair Rod Collection is a long time favorite. It features 6 finial choices, 12 finial choices, and 6 rod styles, each ½” to 5/8” wide and ranging from 28.5 to 108 inches long.

You can order direct from their Web site with no minimum order, and they have many local dealers, even located within 10 miles of me in rural New Hampshire, the rods are easily cut to size if required with a metal cutting hack saw or they will cut to size for no additional fee or delay.
